NORTH EASTERN SEA FISHERIES COMMITTEE
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL FISHERMEN
LOBSTER TAGGING PROGRAMME
NESFC has initiated a tagging experiment on lobsters, which will commence in May 2007 . The tags are yellow in colour and are inserted on the top of the tail/carapace (Dorsally). Unique 7-figure serial numbers accompany each tag.
1) Tagging will be carried out on 12000 lobsters that are above and below minimum landing size (87mm) during 2007 /2008. All animals above 87mm have been V-notched.

3) The Committee would appreciate any fishermen contacting us who wish to take our Project Officer to sea to Tag and Release lobsters. A small payment is available to each vessel per trip and also to purchase mature lobsters for Tagging and ‘V’ notching from the Vessel.
4) The Committee would appreciate the following information should you recapture a Tagged Lobster:
a) The serial number on the Tag
b) The geographic position (GPS) of capture or a bearing and distance from a landmark.
c) Date of Recapture
d) Size (Carapace Length)
e) Sex
f) Berried or Not Berried
